Music Videos...

I honestly need more music videos in my life... for real, I never, ever, ever, see hot music videos anymore! Does anyone remember TRL... I mean, the vintage Carson Daly edition? Does anyone remember Guns and Roses' 'November Rain' or Ma$e's 'Feel So Good' or Pearl Jam's 'Jeremy'??? Those videos were hottt! Groundbreaking music videos! I need more of that!

I have been on a quest ALL weekend long to find some hot music videos... and it turns out (drumroll...) they are still out there! It is true... they just aren't on TV. Hahaha.

Check these videos out...

The first one, is Super Junior 'Sorry Sorry'... I really don't know what to say... the video is dance madness... and it is one take... a single shot! These guys are straight badass...

Next, is a video by Bat for Lashes 'What's A Girl To Do?'... This video is pretty terrifying. hahaha. I want/need to know how this video is shot! The animals come out of NOWHERE!! Watch the video and you will know what I mean...

Both of these videos blew my mind... and are super low budget/super creative.

If you have any music videos that you CAN NOT stop watching... let me know what's good!

  4. 1) I just woke up, so sorry (Sorry Sorry Sorry 내가 내가 내가 먼저 네게 네게 네게 빠져 빠져 빠져 버려 baby~ ahaha) if my comment makes no sense.

    2) My mind is blown that you posted that Sorry Sorry video...
Not only have I been extremely obsessed with k-pop lately, but I've been listening to that song on repeat for the last few days, no joke.

    3) SuJu made and R&B version of the song called Sorry Sorry - Answer, and Jade (Skylar) and I were JUST saying how you guys (HS) WISH you made it.... ties and bowties, bookcases, candles, fancy cars, old record players, champagne... Gentleman Club's heaven, haha

  5. Your taste is in music and music videos amazes me. It's interesting to see how well rounded you in the diff types of sounds and genres that are out there.

I can def see where your tweet about hip hop dance classes were sparked from. I just wonder how well you'd be able to do the dancing that's done in the video. As for the last video, it was so artsy and creative. I love the mix of the creepy pop-up of the animals and the balloon scene with the girl just riding her bike down a dark road.

    Well done, Alexander!

  9. Alex, that effect with the animals is super easy to figure out. They filmed it twice.. once w/ just the chick and again with the animals. They overlapped the two of them.. you can tell because when the animals show up, they fade into focus. Easy editing trick, believe me ;)

As for how the rest was shot. Super easy. She just rode down a road behind a truck/trailor/whatever that had a big light and a camera on it.

I took TV Broadcasting classes in High School. I made a pretty sweet music video to 'Thriller'. Zombie dancing and all. Too bad I can't find it and put it on YouTube..

  10. Laura Marling is an english folky-pop singer. She has some really quirky videos (see 'Ghosts' on her youtube) but my favourite is 'New Romantic' ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNxar07_9YA )The shadows are so simple but capture the mood and tone of the song perfectly.

    Merry almost-Christmas,

  11. I really liked the Bat for Lashes video. It's very haunting with an equally as impressive vintage feel. It almost reminds me of the movie "The Strangers" with Liv Tyler.

I think the line: "It's all blackened out
    And my bat lightning heart
Wants to fly away" really ties the song in with the video.

  16. Wow, those videos are cool.
The japanese one is awesome! I actually need to make up a dance for a male pageant at my school for the boys to dance to, and that actually gave me some ideas! thanks!

With Bat For Lashes's video, i think somehow all the bike riders were attached. like with chains, perhaps? That is pretty badass ;)

  20. Oh man, TRL circa 98 was the best. You know what was better than TRL was MTV Live with Matt Pinfield (that's guys musical knowledge is sick). And to even throw it in there, I miss VH1's PopUp Video. Where can we find these old gems?!?!

Both of these videos are amazing! Video may have killed the Radio Star, but where did the Video go???

    Almost Lover-A Fine Frenzy

The song itself is beautiful, but I'm equally addicted to the music video. I love the lighting. I love the location. I love how it tells a story without any dialogue. I love how it's shot. It's more like a home movie.

    Love it.

  29. "Mr. Right" - A Rocket To The Moon
extremely catchy song with a video with a cool video for a first single off a debut album. sounds like a scenario i've heard somewhere before. :)

but seriously, it's a great video. their singer, Nick Santino, really knows how to make love to the camera. hahaha
