2009...

You know what time it is!!! Time for cliche top ten lists!!

Just playing, I feel like everyone is doing that, so I will simply say that in music for me, this year was all about: Drake coming out of no where, Gaga taking over, Jay Sean going down, Eminem coming back, Kayne going out of control, Jay Z re-inventing the game... again, The Dead Weather bring the nastiness, Kings of Leon going from cool to annoying in seconds flat, Muse going from cool to cooler and the Black Eyed Peas having a feeling the whole year...

Personal highlights: 3 national tours... 2 of those being headlined by HS, Fashionably Late coming out, 09.15.09, going back home to play Bamboozle in the pouring rain, first magazine cover (Pollstar), 2 sold out shows at Irving Plaza, 2 sold out shows at the LA House of Blues, 2 sold out shows at the Houston House of Blues, 2 sold out shows in Virginia... on the same day, first music video, first full-length film (Alvin 2), first signature stick from VicFirth, signed to Ludwig, signed to Paiste, signed to Evans, signed to Jonas Records, signed to Hollywood records, met Bam Margera... met April Margera, met hundreds of thousands of people, made thousands of friends, made millions of memories, fell in love, wrote a couple songs about that, got my heart broken, wrote a couple songs about that, ate all kinds of crazy foods (most of them in Montreal), spent the year with my best friends, played drums everyday for an entire summer, Christmas at home... finally, Jimmy Kimmel Live (doing that again in 2010 fo sho), The Early Show, The Today Show, Teen Choice Awards, re-bought Confessions by Usher, running in Idaho, my PPP b-day party!!! and getting a siiick fanny-pack, met Jordin Sparks and became friends, met Phillippi Sparks and hopefully become friends (I just want to know what its like to lock up with Michael Irving), traded e-mails with heroes, got healthy, got better, pushed my limits, saw the finish line, broke the tape and now I see the next one... January 1st, 2011.

2009 was definitely the best year of my life... thank you so much for all the memories, love, mini-golf, 80s themed madness, mini golf, Starbucks cards, In-N-Out hats, posters, presents for Willis, being cool to my friend Gayne Wetsky, bracelets, necklaces, Bob's Big Boy dinner meetings, post-show dance parties, meet and greet parties, sound check parties, Clifford and the Silver Bullet... for real thank you to everyone that made this year rad-iculously sweet!

Let's do it all over again in 2010!!!

  1. Wait...before you thank everyone else, let me thank YOU. You see, Alexander. Without you and your band, I would have never met my best friends/sisters, made countless memories, discovered how much music really flows through my veins, or smiled so much in my entire life. That's right. 2009 was the best year of MY life.

    And you did that.

  5. Alexander.. you are so amazing beyond words. All of the things you accomplished in 2009 made us all smile. Keep up the great work.

By the way, you probably already know this, but you four guys have brought together a lot of fans, and now we're all very good friends; so thanks for that.

I cannot WAIT to see what 2010 brings :)

  7. Alex, despite the fact that I'm crestfallen over two pretty significant downfalls in my life today, you just made me smile and remember what I've discovered in 2009. The cool part is that the majory of these discoveries are thanks to you and your best friends. Without you, I wouldn't have found my best friends and sisters, and without you, I would've have had the strength to really go after my true passion and dreams. So I thank you for that with all of my heart.

    -Katie

PS - I'm proud as hell of you. You've really taken "livin' the dream, baby, livin' the dream" and made it a reality. =)

  8. Can I just say how much I love you? Actually, I can't. But anyway, I def agree with 2009 being an epic year, because it totally was for me too. You and the rest of Honor Society had a huge impact on making it so epic. I can't wait to see what you guys have in store for 2010 so we can all make some new memories! :D

  10. absolutely amazing, what an incredible year you have had. Congratulations on all of the success over this past year, you deserve every bit of it!

Thank you Alexander for making this past year of mine filled with great memories. Thank you for always making me smile and laugh when I didn't think I had it in me.
I am beyond thrilled to see what 2010 has in store! :)

  11. What a year..I had kinda forgotten about some of that stuff. Thanks for reminding me. :P Music was HUGE this year and it was so awesome to see you guys be a part of it all. This time last year I was sitting in my dorm room, with the HS myspace playlist on repeat, probably annoying the crap out of my room mate, but I didn't care. All I knew was that these 4 guys had AH-MAZING talent and I wanted to be a part of that. Who knew that I would actually get to see them perform...

First in Vegas (Aug 1) where I was more excited for them than the main act (don't act shocked. I was there for you guys!!) and was the only one in the nose bleed seats doing the Honor Roll.

And who could forget Tulsa (Oct 8) you guys brought the rain & the party and I learned that Honor Society truly means it when they call themselves "gentlemen"

I made some of my best friends this year because of you guys and I can't wait to see you again in 2010. Thanks for reminding me that ANYTHING is possible when you believe in your dreams.

  13. I'm glad you had these cool opportunities. and thank you for making one of my best year too by coming to Montreal :)

I wanted to know.. what did you eat that was so crazy in Montreal? Is it the poutine (like french fries, cheese and gravy sauce -> so good haha)

Anyway, I hope you'll announce your tour dates soon so that we can keep rockin' your life :)

  14. 1. I love that you like the Dead Weather. They are amazing. My best friend got me hooked on them. Jack White is pretty stellar on the drums and Alison Mosshart's voice is ... no words, its just great.

    2. Muse owns part of my musical soul. Every time they drop an album, I think to myself "there is no way its going to be better than the last one"... and then lo-and-behold it is.

    3. Freaking legit that you met Bam Margera and Ape. I thinkI have seen every episode of Viva la Bam.

So, after reading over this, I am thinking how can 2010 be better for Alex Noyes than 2009 was, but like the Honor Society motto - "Anything is Possible". And I see that you had some lows in there, but looking back it only makes you stronger mentally and emotionally. Falling in and out love only makes human, but being able to carry on makes a honorable and wise.

Like my favorite actress - Drew Barrymore - says "If you don't take risks, you'll have a wasted soul." I hope 2010 brings you everything you want and more!

    <3,
    Cara

  15. Alex. you are amazing!
I know i wasn't a fan in the beginning but i will be there until the end. The first time i heard Honor Society was on a Jonas Brothers live chat and from then on i was hooked, you guys are incredible. November 22nd was a night i will never forget. :)
hope i can see you guys again soon <3

  16. Thank you Alex! To you and to honor society. 2009 was filled with memories, and a big chunk of them involve you and your band. I've had so many ups and a hell of a lot of downs this year, but when I needed to feel good, I always knew I could just pop in the FL CD, there was another show coming up and your humor to help me get through it. I've respected not only you, but your fans as well to be able to make new friends and new memories. You are an amazing person for writing this year end blog and I can't wait to see what you and the rest of the gentlemen have in store for 2010. See u at the show... <3

  17. Posters? How about those annoying girls who brought 30+ to the St.Pete show and made you guys read every one? Yea, what soggy bitches. I'm sorry to say, but you'll probably run into them again if/when you come back to Florida. In better news you won't be haunted by and endless stack of posters, just party hats and foam fingers with a whole bunch of crazy. I beg of you though, please, do not let this threat scare you away from the Sunshine State.

All in all, thanks for putting up with the crazy shit that we, the fans, put you through. You keep your cool and don't let us know that you think half of us are a bit on the anomalous side ;)
    You made 2009 a party!

  18. aww Alex :) no problem. thanks for making 2009 a year to remember :)
can't wait to see what you guys do this year. bet it's going to be amazing. :)
    love you guys.

  19. Alex, Alex, Alex.

Before you start thanking us, allow me to thank YOU. Without you, and the rest of Honor Society, my 2009 would have lacked craziness, temporary loss of hearing, new friends, new outlooks on life, pizzazz, and finally realizing that anything IS possible.

Looking back, I know now that even though 2009 was fantastic, 2010 is going to be even better for me AND for you boys. :)

Keep working it, because few people can bring it as well as you do. ;)

  21. ...Wow. Well, that is one hell of a year! Congratulations on all the things you've accomplished. Most people would be lucky to have done ONE of those things. I hope twenty-ten is as successful as '09!

So, this new saying, 'Anything Can Happen'.......it is making me seriously curious. If this is true, than all of you should come to my roommate and I's apartment, and we'll chill and have a dance party. And since we live in the mountains, you can come skiing/snowboarding/tubing/sledding. They're all awesomely fun, but I digress...

You need to announce some dang tour dates. We need time to PLAN things! Hahah I know it's out of your control now, 'cause at New Years you still didn't have the dates. I'm just messing. But seriously, if you wait until NEXT week, you'll be saying "HEY FYI, WE'RE GOING ON TOUR NEXT WEEK :)" And that's just inconvenient for all of us! hahaha BUT AGAIN I digress.

Enjoy twenty-ten for real. The year is as good as YOU make it.

  27. Thank You Mr. Noyes sooo soo much for everything you have done and how hard you have worked for us. You deserved every moment this amazing year and so much more.

Your crushing meter is definetly well above average for 2009. That means I expect serious damage to be done in 2010.

You are the best person. Ever.

    Honestly. I cried reading this.

You have made this year so amazing, and the best of my life. Tell the other gents I said that, too ;)

But it's been 17 concerts. 15 times meeting you.
    So many memories.

Watching you guys on stage, from the first time on January 18, 2009 to the last time in 09 on December 31, has been amazing.
    I'm so proud of you.

2010 will be bigger and better.
    I can feel it.
You're going to be seeing a lot more of me. So be ready.

I love you, and the other 3 too.

  33. Dear Alex,

I hope you make it all the way down here to my comment. Ever since I saw you guys in the second row of that tiny little movie theater in Sacramento, I've been in love. With you, with your band, with your music. You are all extremely talented and wonderfully kind to your fans. We appreciate every moment of your devotion, and I hope that you know how much we all care about you.

That night in LA at the House of Blues in October was one I will never forget. By some turn of fate the manager gave us wristbands for the VIP room upstairs and when I talked to you at the greet & meet, I never seriously expected you guys to show up. Honestly when you walked in that door I almost died. Just hanging out with you guys and being able to laugh and just relax was absolutely fabulous. Thank you for so many fantastic memories.

Best of luck in 2010, I can't wait to see what happens next and I hope we meet again soon.

    Yours,

    Kristie

Thank YOU! You, Andy, Mike & Jay helped my friends and I have an amazing summer filled with road trips and laughs. You guys brought us even closer than before, and I'm so thankful for that. Summer 2009 was the most epic summer of my life. You, and the rest of your band are the epitome of gentlemen, and you never fail to make me smile every time we meet, ever since I found you guys at Six Flags Great Adventure over Summer 2008. I cannot wait for the rest of this year!

  36. Alex-
Thanks for sharing with us. We should be the ones thanking YOU for inviting us along for the journey. It was an honor to watch you guys have the year you did. I've got some incredible memories to hang onto- and so many more to look forward to.
I'm sorry that you had your heart broken...it happens. We've all been there and it really just sucks. BUT....she's out there somewhere, and when you find her, it will be worth it. Promise :)
2010 will be great- I just know it! Can we come along for this one too?

  37. Well you experienced a little bit of everything.
    Lucky.

Well, let's make 2010 fancier, snazzier, classier, and with more parties and GOOD memories.

    HOLLA!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Seems like your year was fantastic! Let's work to make 2010 doubly better, even if you can't fathom that much greatness in one year! It can be done, trust me!
MeghanHope was right! You and your best friends should DEFINITELY come to our apartment sometime this year and have an epic dance party with us in NC! We're all May babies, and I know that would make both of our birthday months the best ones ever. Although, with touring and other rock star stuff there might be conflicts haha.
Every time you fall down just remember you have the strength to fight and get back up even stronger than before. When you find that right woman for you everything else you've gone through will seem so trivial compared to the happiness you can have with them. I know there are a million girls who would LOVE to be that girl for you (including me lol) so don't give up hope!

2010 will be so much better, partly because you'll get to meet me :)

did you eat your alexander hershey's bar yet?? i hope you read everything on the back ;) even the smallest detail.
i have to say it was an honor to be at your 3 nyc SOLD OUT shows, the today show and even your white christmas video shoot ;) and cant forget HERSHEY!!
everytime i meet and talk to you and the other guys i find new reasons to like you even more. i dont know if there is any way for me to tell you how great of people i think you are, but it is true. its not easy going to art school especially when youre different then everyone else and no one seems to wanna be friends with you. but then hs rolls into town -or the city (nyc) for that matter- and i remember that there still are people out there that i want to be surrounded by and want in my life.
thank you for making 2009 a good year for me and making my not-so-great times at college be overshadowed by great times!
